PERSIA, Achaemenid Empire. Time of Artaxerxes II to Darios III, circa 375-336 BC. Daric (Gold, 16 mm, 8.36 g), Sardes or subsidiary mint. Persian king or hero in kneeling/running stance to right, holding spear in his right hand and bow in his left. Rev. Oblong irregular incuse. Carradice Type IIIb (pl. XV, 50-51). BMC Arabia pl. XXV, 24. Minor flan fault on the obverse and with some deposits, otherwise, very fine.

From a German collection, privately purchased from Münzenetage Stuttgart in 1998.
